Solon Kassinis

Solon Kassinis studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey, graduating with honors in 1977. He also holds a BSc in Business Studies from the University of London and a Diploma in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing in London.

Solon served the Public Sector of the Republic of Cyprus in various positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Tourism, and from 2004 to February 2013 was appointed Director of the Energy Service. In 2005 he assumed the duties of President of the Cyprus Institute of Energy and President of the Special Fund for Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving. He has been closely associated with the oil and gas industry for more than 35 years, and through his positions in the Ministry was involved in the development of hydrocarbon exploration activities offshore Cyprus, including as chief negotiator during the 1st Licensing Hydrocarbon Round and negotiations on the delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus with Egypt, Lebanon and Israel.

From March to September 2013, Solon was Executive Vice President of the Cypriot National Hydrocarbons Company. In September 2013 he established his own company, Kassinis International Consulting Ltd, and was appointed President of the “Solon Kassinis” Energy Training School and Research Centre of UCLan Cyprus.
