Mustafa Insel

Mustafa Insel is Chairman of Turk Loydu and Professor in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), where he has lectured since 1991 and held a professorship since 2009; he also holds the role of Head of Technical Affairs and R&D Commission at the Turkish Shipbuilders' Association (GISBIR). He holds a PhD from the University of Southampton, UK.

He coordinated seven EU Framework Programme projects for ITU (FP6 and FP7), including work on air lubrication for energy efficiency (SMOOTH) and shipboard emission reduction (TARGETS, TEFLES), and has authored around 70 research papers; he received the RINA Bronze Medal in 1992.

He spoke at nine Mare Forum events between 2011 and 2026, moderating three editions of Mare Forum Istanbul, and appearing at Super Yacht Türkiye.
