Peter Wijaya Surya

Peter Wijaya Surya is Managing Director of Aptus Maritime Ltd, an advisory, consultancy and commercial management company dedicated to the maritime industry, based in Hong Kong. Prior to Aptus, he was Head of Projects and Business Development at one of Indonesia's leading diversified shipping companies, based in Hong Kong and responsible for its overseas business and newbuilding projects. Mr. Surya has worked extensively in the maritime transportation industry since 1991, as well as in manufacturing and investment banking in Asia, building a career in commercial shipping with extensive experience in the chemical tanker, dry bulk and general cargo markets, and holding various management positions in family-controlled and publicly listed shipping companies as well as senior roles at a shipbroking company and an investment bank.

He specialises in turnaround strategies, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and investments, and currently provides consultancy and advisory services to banks, financial institutions, consulting groups, and shipping and industrial companies. Based in Hong Kong since 1998, he has established close relationships with regional shipping companies, shipbuilders, ship managers, shipping banks, trading houses and financial institutions across Asia. Mr. Surya received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Lewis and Clark College, Portland, Oregon, and a Master of Science degree in Shipping, Trade and Finance from Cass Business School, London.
