Paal Johansen

Paal Johansen is Vice President and Director of Operations for DNV GL's Maritime Services in the Americas (USA/Canada, Central America and South America), based in Houston, Texas. He joined DNV in 1982 at DNV Headquarters in Norway, and over his 32-year career with DNV has held different management positions around the world, with assignments in Hong Kong, Japan, the Middle East, Singapore, Holland, and the USA (Miami), and from 2007 to 2012 was Director of Operations for DNV in South Korea & Japan, home to the world's major ship builders.

In 2010, he also started up the DNV Wind Turbine certification business and established an Advisory Center for the Maritime and Energy sector in Korea. His career path with DNV has encompassed management of Maritime Services, Renewable Energy Services (Wind and Solar) and Management System Certification Services. Paal Johansen graduated with an MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from NTNU (Norwegian Institute of Technology) in Trondheim, Norway in December 1980, and attended a Program for Executive Development at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1995-1996.
