Mariella Bottiglieri

Born in Naples, Italy, on 11 February 1978, Mariella Bottiglieri is the eldest daughter of Giuseppe Bottiglieri and Ghetty Cozzolino, belonging to a family active in the shipping business since 1850. She spent the years from age six to thirteen in Athens, Greece, where her father had moved his shipping company in 1976.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Economics and Maritime Business, she worked for H. Clarksons Ltd, London as a tanker broker in the clean petroleum products department, while completing a Master in Economics, Law and Maritime Politics (Rome, 2001), a Master in Shipbroking and Chartering (London, 2002) and a Master in Ship Management (London, 2004). In September 2004, Mariella resigned from H. Clarksons Ltd London and joined the family company in Italy as Managing Director and Chartering Manager, becoming one of the youngest female top managers in the Italian shipping industry.

Since July 2005 she has been a Board Member of the Young Shipowners' Association in Rome, was elected Board Member of WISTA Italy in October 2005 and joined WISTA UK in 2009, joined AIDDA (the World Association of Women Entrepreneurs) in April 2006, and was elected Director of the UK Defence Club, based in London, in June 2006. Since December 2012 she has been Vice Chairman of Unione Industriali di Napoli, the Italian Entrepreneurs Confederation, and represents Italy on the Documentary Committee of BIMCO.
