Eric Smith

Eric Smith was Chief Commercial Officer of OSG America at the time of his Mare Forum appearances. He joined OSG in March 2005 as Assistant Vice President, securing long-term charters with major oil and refining companies and representing the company in Washington, DC, before being promoted in May 2006 to head its US Flag Strategic Business Unit.

Before OSG he spent 18 years in shipping, including at the Naval Sea Systems Command on defence tanker construction and 12 years as a tanker broker at Dietze & Associates and L&R Midland, Inc. (1993-2005), leading L&R's Houston shipyard marketing division by 2003. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy.

He appeared as a panellist at Mare Forum's 6th Mare Forum USA (2011) and 10th Mare Forum USA (2016).
