Christian von Oldershausen

Christian von Oldershausen has been involved in the maritime industry for more than 30 years. Until December 2011 he was Managing Partner of Deutsche Seewert, a strategy advisor and asset manager for the shipping industry. From 2007 to 2009 he was CEO of the Hellespont Group, a shipping and marine services group active in the tanker and offshore business operating tanker fleets in the crude, product and easy chemical segments; as CEO of Hellespont he was involved in the daily operational aspects of the fleet as well as the strategic analysis leading to the build-up of its various fleet segments.

Before that, he was in charge of the shipping activities of HCI Capital AG, one of Germany's leading syndicators for shipping projects (container vessels, bulk carriers and tankers), and of the shipbuilding activities of MAN Ferrostaal AG, where he was involved in various container vessel, LPG tanker, MPV and bulk carrier newbuilding projects for clients worldwide. He has a wide range of knowledge and experience in operative corporate management and administration, shipping and export finance, shipbuilding, and project development and management.

He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Federal German Armed Forces, Hamburg, and participated in a Post-Graduate programme in International Business at the University of Houston. He began his professional career as a Marine Engineering Officer in the German Navy, and is fluent in German, French, English and Spanish, as well as Dutch.
