Chris Wiernicki

Christopher J. Wiernicki has held leadership positions at ABS, a leading provider of classification services to the global marine and offshore industries, for more than three decades, joining in 1993 as Vice President of Engineering in the ABS Americas Division. He subsequently served as President and COO of ABSG Consulting Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of ABS Group of Companies; ABS Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer; ABS Europe Ltd. President and Chief Operating Officer; and ABS President and COO.

Before joining ABS, Wiernicki was President and CEO of Designers and Planners Inc., a leading US naval architecture firm, and began his career at the US Navy Research and Development Center. His professional honors include the Vice Admiral 'Jerry' Land Medal, awarded by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) for outstanding accomplishments in the marine field, and membership in the George Washington University Engineering Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Webb Institute Board of Trustees, serves on an advisory committee of MIT's Department of Ocean Engineering, is a member of the Engineering Advisory Council for the University of Michigan's College of Engineering, and is a Fellow of SNAME. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University and M.S. degrees in structural engineering from George Washington University and in ocean engineering.
