Charles Tang

Charles Tang is Chairman of the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry, representing the State of Pernambuco and the State Government of Pará in China. He is also a member of the World Policy Institute in New York and the Fernand Braudel Institute of World Economics in São Paulo, Honorary President of the Beijing International Chamber of Commerce, a member of the International Advisory Council of the Wuhan Government, economic advisor to the Governments of Jilin City and Huainan, advisor to the Government of the Jiangxi Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries, advisor to the Nanning sub-council of the CCPIT, and Councilor of the Foreign Trade Council of Fecomércio, the Federation of Commerce of São Paulo.

Charles is a commentator for CCTV News and contributes to Folha de São Paulo and Globo newspapers, among other publications in Brazil, as well as to the People's Daily's International Finance News in China, and has spoken at forums including those hosted by The Economist, the Financial Times, Asia Finance, China Economic Review, China Mining, the London Business School, the University of Oxford, and Mare Forum. He introduced leasing into Brazil as an executive for the Bank of Boston, and also started the first leasing company in Spain as a joint venture with Banco del Descuento in Madrid. He holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University, completed law school at Estácio de Sá University in Brazil, where he was an assistant professor of Economic Development, and undertook a doctoral course at Paris V, Sorbonne, in France. He presently heads a Brazilian mineral assets development holding company and a financial advisory firm.
