Captain Tim Close

Captain Tim Close is Director, Safety, Security and Environmental Health at Horizon Lines. He completed a 30-year career in the U.S. Coast Guard in 2012 in Hawaii as Chief of Staff to the Fourteenth Coast Guard District. Among his previous tours, he served as Sector Commander and Captain of the Port in the St. Petersburg-Tampa, Florida area and as Captain of the Port in Savannah, Georgia. He is a 1982 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and holds two Masters Degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
