The Impact on Shipping and Energy Industries -

Houston,
Texas, USA
United States is attempting to increase
energy independence by expanding offshore oil and gas
development and use of alternative energy sources; and, at
the same time, reduce carbon and other emissions. These
initiatives will create potentially significant impacts on
the energy industry and transportation of energy cargoes by
international shipping and United States domestic shipping

- Optimism in the air -

Italy
The global economy
may still be on a knife edge but Italian
shipping is scenting the first hints of optimism
in the air. The core strengths of Italian owners
have helped them survive volatile markets, and
the depths of competence and innovation right
across Italy’s shipping cluster position them to
take advantage of any opportunity the changing
markets present. No one is cheering, but there
is a feeling that good old fashioned values of
prudence, long term thinking, family decision
making and staying friends with the banks give
Italy’s diverse marine industries a firm
platform for the future. In Rome leading Italian
and international shipowners will come together

-The Turkish Expansion II-
Where does Turkey fit in the post-crunch world economy and
world shipping?
Monday 17 May
Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul
Istanbul - Turkey
Where does
Turkey fit in the post-crunch world economy and world
shipping? Right in the middle, is the answer, poised to take
advantage of the new order.
The credit crunch has speeded up massive structural changes
in the world economy. We are moving quickly from a West-East
world to a more complex political and economic landscape. In
the pre crunch world, Turkey was neither West nor East, and
fell between the centres of economic and political power. In
today’s multi-polar asymmetry, Turkey stands out more
strongly as a regional power, a gateway to Europe, an energy
supply route and a powerhouse of educated labour. Oh, and
there is money there. Turkish banks didn’t go broke in the
crisis.

The Euromed Management
Maritime Forum 2010 will focus this year on discovering the
future of the shipping markets and will try to give an
answer on the question "Is Climate Change a challenge or an
excellent incentive to facilitate the renaissance of the
shipping and maritime industries?" This is of vital
interest to ship owners/operators, oil and gas companies,
ship brokers, key investors in shipping, regulators, port
and terminal authorities, charterers, shippers, traders,
bankers and shipping entrepreneurs.

Discovering the future
of the shipping markets - the need for innovation - and
where should the smart investments go now?
Following the very successful first
Iron Ore & Coal World Shipping Summit last year, Mare Forum
together with OreCoal is pleased to announce the second
conference to be held on Monday 4th of October 2010. The
international iron ore, coal and shipping communities will
gather in Athens to discuss, advise and network around the
topical issues which affect the world’s largest seagoing
commodities.
The conference will focus on the maritime transportation of
iron ore and coal, making an attempt to forecast the trends
of global economy; iron ore, coal and other commodities,
production and distribution; the trading markets, shipping
capacities, shipbuilding and shipping requirements; the
financing and investment climate, shipping innovation
effects on ship-values and the environmental imperatives.
