Following the 1st Global Ship Recycling Summit in Amsterdam in 1999 and
the consequent initiatives taken by the MEPC/IMO, it can be concluded that
the issue of ship scrapping or ship recycling is firmly on the agenda. Today's
maritime industry, with it's increased drive toward quality shipping is
capable of defining and taking up an initiative for positive action which
will satisfy the demand for a solution to the problems plaguing the ship
recycling industry, while considering all aspects of the issue, from the
environmental to the economical. The 2nd
Global Ship Recycling Summit, in an attempt to facilitate this
initiative will address the ship recycling issue and define an agenda for
action accordingly. On June 25th 2001, at
the 2nd Global Ship Recycling Summit, public decision makers and senior executives of
the international shipping industry and ship recycling industry will meet
face to face to discuss and debate the issues of ship recycling. INFORMATION For further
