CHRISTMAS MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL

We invite you to join us for a Traditional Catalan Mountain Christmas Festival in the spectacular setting of Can Gensana, an elegantly restored Catalan farmhouse on the slopes of the mountain of Montseny where, on a clear day, at an altitude of seven hundred meters above sea level it is possible to see the Balearic Islands .  The Montseny, declared a biosphere reserve in 1978 by UNESCO, is one of Catalonia ’s most famous national parks where wild boar roam free and hundreds of different species of mammals, birds and insects enjoy the protection of a unique ecosystem and microclimate.

You will enjoy the rich folklore of the region in the form of music, dance and cuisine.  You will hear how medieval instruments really sounded and see some of the traditional dances that have been passed down through generations in the hamlets and villages of the area. This will provide the perfect accompaniment to the special farmhouse Christmas lunch with all the trimmings that, apart from satisfying the taste buds, will also give you a never-to-forget insight into the variety and type of food eaten in this very special season of the year.

All this will be washed down with adequate quantities of excellent Catalan wine and will, of course, include lessons on how to use the famous “porron” wine vessel.  To top it all off you will be offered a selection of the famous Christmas sweets called “turrones”, made from honey, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and chocolate. And if you think such a grand meal may be a little too much, a pre-lunch ramble through chestnut woods with magnificent views of the coastal mountain range will undoubtedly sharpen your appetite for both lunch and further visits to this Mediterranean paradise - The National Park of the Montseny.

Leave
Barcelona by coach at 10:00 hours, returning at 18.00 hours approx. Price per person €100. Maximum group 150 persons.
